You know, there are countries on this earth where making jokes on the internet about Oliver Perez’s fastball would get me arrested, or put in front of a firing squad.
I’m glad I live in this one. The one where the freedom to speak, worship, and visit (or not visit) medical centers exist. The freedom to speculate that Carlos Beltran’s knee tendinitis was all an elaborate rouse not to play on a day that honors patriotism because he’s wants to embarrass the team over his surgery dispute. The freedom to completely fabricate conversations between Perez and J.J. Putz. They exist here … even after others tried to take them away nine years ago today.
God bless America … and the people who sacrifice to protect our freedoms. (Even the stupid ones that I described.)
