From Head To Toe

In honor of going to the birthplace of hockey, the Mets wore hockey jerseys on the trip in to Toronto. In honor of hockey, I’m about to make this a John Tortorella type post, because there’s really nothing good to say about the Mets 14-5 loss, in which Rob Johnson came in an pitched the eighth inning and was better than any of the dreck put out there by the Mets on Friday. Jon Niese was terrible, Manny Acosta was terrible, and Rajai Davis hit two home runs. That’s 13% of his career output. Jose Bautista gets neutralized and Rajai Davis hits two home runs. Ponderous.

And to top it all off, David Wright gets pulled from the game because he’s sick. Either that or Terry Collins was been afraid that Brett Lawrie would throw a helmet at him. And guess what, with the Mets having been outscored 41-24 in the last six games, they turn to Miguel Batista. At least Johnson gave the bullpen some rest to deal with that. Now if you’ll excuse me, I’m headed to the fallout shelter.

Let’s hear from the coach on Friday’s loss:
