Generation SV

Baltimore 472

So Jason Isringhausen gets his first save as a Met, and his 300th save as a Met. Most of the rest in between were notched in other uniforms because A) Steve Phillips thought Billy Taylor was a better option, and B) Isringhausen injured himself punching walls and couldn’t be trusted not to do that after a particularly tough ninth inning. So what have we learned? Well, we learned that people mature, Billy Taylor sucks, and you can go home again. We’ve also learned that Generation SV isn’t an official stat like Generation K was. But 300 saves in a career is kinda nice, even of most of them were for somebody else. A 300th win as a Met was nice for Tom Glavine and Mets fans, until Glavine faced the Marlins. When Gary Sheffield hit home run number 500 as a Met … oh, you forgot about that too. Okay. Well congrats to Izzy, in any event. I’m glad that Frankie Rodriguez sent him a congratulatory text … I just hope that doesn’t violate any restraining order.

And I congratulate Izzy as well, as I’m sure all Met fans do. Now forgive us if we all celebrate by dropping you from our fantasy teams.

And congrats to the Mets for going over slot to sign first round pick Brandon Nimmo. Excuse me while I put guards up on the windows so the pigs don’t accidentally fly them.
