Major League Baseball usually features a full slate of baseball on summer Fridays. Today, there will be two teams missing.
Extraordinary circumstances call for changes in long standing cadence. Today, the Houston Astros and New York Mets will not play baseball. Instead, Friday’s game has been pushed back and folded into a day-night doubleheader on Saturday. The Astros can now spend the day with their families after returning home for the first time after Hurricane Harvey ravaged through Houston and southeast Texas. For their part, the Mets will be down there trying to help out the community as much as they can.

The Astros themselves have set up a crowd funding site and are trying to raise $1M for hurricane relief.
Former Met Jay Bruce joined twitter to get out the word about his hometown of Beaumont, which is under water. Cleveland Indians Charities will take all donations through September 10th and put it towards Jay’s relief efforts, and Jay will match up to $100K.
The SPCA of Texas is raising money to help the animals displaced by the hurricane, and you can donate here.
