Once I was settled in for my Church’s worship night, I received the update that our captain was scratched from tonight’s line up. I rushed to catch the last few innings, only to get the news that Wright is heading back to New York for an MRI. I took a step back and said to myself, “if Ray Ramirez touched him, he’s doomed!”
[mlbvideo id=”34088797″ width=”400″ height=”224″ /]Those couple of days he mentions could be the whole season. Just when we were actually starting to hit for some power, this happens. This team needs more than a prayer. Joel Osteen should bring his “Night of Hope”to Queens and have all Mets fans cry out to the good Lord. But, we all know that can never happen. I have been hoping for some positive results since Adam Wainwright’s curveball. Some older folks since 1988, but I know that is a year to forget.
Enough with the spiritual talk, during the actual game, the umpire’s made arguably the worst call all year in the 10th inning. Take a look:
[mlbvideo id=”34094561″ width=”400″ height=”224″ /]According to the rule book, rule 7.08(a)(1) states that “Any runner is out when he runs more than three feet away from his base path to avoid being tagged unless his action is to avoid interference with a fielder fielding a batted ball. A runner’s base path is established when the tag attempt occurs and is a straight line from the runner to the base he is attempting to reach safely.” WHAT A HORRIBLE CALL! Josh Harrison was clearly out of the baseline. I will have fits for days and I will have every right to be angry about this. And to make things better, we lost in the next inning after Vic black gave up the game winning double to Harrison out of all people. Give me a break. (seriously, I could use a Kit Kat right now.)
