Wow! There I am on my couch. I’m all alone, but for some reason I’m talking to myself out loud.
Time for the draft lottery. I guess I’ll watch it.
Where will the Oilers end up? Probably third or fourth.
Should the Oilers draft Noah Hanifin or Dylan Strome? Tough choice.
OK, here’s the fourth pick. Will it be the Leafs or the Oilers?
[youtube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XqRYwjlkEJA#t=3m49s&w=560&h=315] “The Edmonton Oilers move up from number 3 to number 1.”We got McDavid?! We got McDavid?!?! We got McDavid?!?!?!
Wait…is this real?

Let’s check in on some Oiler fans.
The mood seems to be upbeat in Oiler land. How are Leaf fans doing?
Better luck in 2016, Leafs.

Ever since the Oilers won the draft lottery, Leaf fans have been trying to convince themselves that it’s only a matter of time until McDavid leaves Edmonton for Toronto. “Did you see how upset McDavid was when the Oilers won the lottery? I bet he’ll try to get out of Edmonton the first chance he gets!”
When the Leafs visited Edmonton last week, once again we heard about how McDavid grew up a Leafs fan. (Every hockey player eventually joins the team he cheered for as a kid, right?) And Leaf fans were on Twitter talking about how they couldn’t wait until McDavid becomes a free agent.

But let’s not forget that McDavid has said that he wants to be an Oiler for his entire career. And even if McDavid becomes a restricted free agent and even if another team signs him to an offer sheet, the Oilers would certainly match it. In other words, McDavid is guaranteed to be an Oiler for at least the next seven or eight years.
McDavid is often said to be the best prospect since Sidney Crosby (maybe better?). And let’s remember that Crosby grew up a Canadiens fan. But people generally believe that Crosby will remain a Penguin for as long as the franchise wants him.
Sorry, Leaf fans, but McDavid is ours…and probably will be forever.

And now I leave you with this GIF put together by Oiler fan Del Preston.
Did we really get McDavid?!?! Don’t wake me up if this is a dream.
