Motivational speaker and entertainer Mark J. Lindquist returns for second year as University of North Dakota men’s hockey national anthem singer

Grand Forks, N.D. (Sept. 9, 2015) – Mark J. Lindquist, nationally recognized motivational speaker and world-touring entertainer, will return for his second year as the University of North Dakota men’s hockey team’s full-time national anthem singer for the 2015-2016 season.

Lindquist’s relationship with UND Athletics and Ralph Engelstad Arena started with performing at multiple events in 2013, which led to signing on as a full-time performer last season. Lindquist says this is a unique opportunity as there aren’t many singers who get to perform for every home game in college or pro sports.

“This is the best gig in the country!” Lindquist said. “It’s such an honor to be welcomed back to UND for the second year; I love being part of this program and the Ralph feels like home to me. Not only does UND have an anthem singer for another year, they have a fan for life.”

Lindquist is used to being in the spotlight and performing, but the national anthem has special meaning as it has always been his favorite song to perform. Starting with Ortonville (Minn.) High School football games at age 16, he has been singing it in front of crowds ever since, including military bases all over the world. Now he is excited to continue to perform for one of the strongest fan bases in the country.

“We’re thrilled to have Mark return as the UND men’s hockey national anthem singer at Ralph Engelstad Arena again this season,” said Jody Hodgson, general manager of Ralph Engelstad Arena. “Mark does a fantastic job with the national anthem and his version of the Star Spangled Banner has become a significant part of the fan experience at a hockey game.”

Lindquist currently travels nationwide delivering motivational keynote addresses. He has also been invited to perform the national anthem before NFL, MLB and NCAA tournaments.
