Well the Mets lost a baseball game 3-1 to Stephen Strasburg and the Washington Nationals. There’s no use in lamenting over that, besides perhaps a wasted rally in the eighth after Strasburg was already out of the game as Curtis Granderson swung at a lucky 3-1 pitch from Oliver Perez which set up a double play that Daniel Murphy would have botched if he was here. But let’s face it: losing to an 11-0 (now 12-0) pitcher is nothing to lose sleep or get drunk over.
But if you want reasons for either of those, consider that Yoenis Cespedes left the game with a quad issue, which will keep him out of the All Star Game. Then consider that Noah Syndergaard left the game in the fifth inning with what the Mets called “arm fatigue” which will keep him out of the All Star Game. (Arm fatigue? Hell, at that point just call it “upper body injury”.) If there’s any reason … any reason at all … for solace, it’s that for once the manager, the player, and everybody else on the Mets called it the same thing. Seems like a simple thing to get straight but remember, the Mets don’t always do that. So at least this is a good step, and maybe (although I won’t fully commit) a sign that the “arm fatigue” explanation is legit. Maybe. I don’t know.
What I do know is that you don’t tempt the baseball gods.

Tomorrow we find out that Jacob deGrom was secretly replaced with Folgers Crystals, and Neil Walker has had his body taken over by aliens like Bernard Gilkey had happen to him in that movie, which wasn’t really so much of a “movie” as it was an documentary planted by the illuminati.
His career was never the same again.
Today’s Hate List
So, like, I was going to make an actual list and put Clint Robinson at the top, because of his home run which was the difference in the game and because he has a swing that looks a lot like Adam LaRoche’s, and that guy killed the Mets too.
But you know what, instead I just give you this:

Nice hip check, Lucic. Derek Norris is out with an upper body injury. Or arm fatigue. Either/or. And Chase Utley will be suspended, then not. Because who cares. Right, Mr. Torre?
