Officiating Recap Vancouver Canucks Oct 28

The third game I’ll detail in the officiating review recap is the Vancouver game from Oct. 28th. The summary data on the series thus far can be found here.

The Oilers would win it 2-0 to continue a strong month and help set a sombre tone for the Canucks early in the season.

Referees for that evening were Tim Peel and Tom Chmielewski.

This was a very unusual game, not only for a Canucks/Oilers tilt, but for my review in general. Burrows and Dorsett were both out with injury and, suffice to say, it was a fairly timid affair.

The most frequently targeted Oiler was Adam Larsson, the most pugnacious Oiler was hometown villain Milan Lucic.

The most pugnacious Canuck was Daniel Sedin.

Like I said, it was a weird one.

The Oilers committed 8 uncalled infractions and received 2 penalties. One being a weak physical call (roughing on Lucic) the other an obvious physical call (fighting major on Kassian).

The Canucks committed 13 uncalled infractions and were penalized twice, one being the fighting major, the other being a fair technical hook on Larsson.
