Oilers Hump Day Links

With the Holiday weekend having just occurred in both the US and Canada (And the fourth falling on Monday), I’m a little behind on my weekly edition of links. Have no fear Oiler fans, your trusty weekly links are in fact here!

Obviously the last week has been extremely busy in Oil Country. The Oilers dealt Taylor Hall to New Jersey for Adam Larsson, then signed Milan Lucic and Jonas Gustavsson for the big club on Friday. Mark Fraser and Taylor Beck were added to the system, while Josh Winquist, Brad Hunt, Adam Cracknell and Adam Clendening headed elsewhere via free agency.

By the sounds of it, the Oilers aren’t done either. The team is looking for a puck-moving defender to run the powerplay, and they could be looking at adding another depth scorer or two.

Let’s take a look back at the wild week that was with some of the best links from the transactions that transpired.

A Look At Adam Larsson: Travis Yost, one of the smartest minds in the hockey blogging world, took a look new Oiler defender Adam Larsson over at TSN. Yost isn’t an Oilers fan and has always been impartial when it comes to the team. That’s why his honest look at Larsson is one of the my favorite reads regarding the team’s new rearguard. It’s certainly worth your time.

Tyson Barrie?: Is Tyson Barrie the new top target for the Edmonton Oilers? It certainly seems like the team is interested in the Colorado defender, who filed for arbitration on Tuesday afternoon. David Staples connects some dots from Bob Stauffer in this post over at the Cult of Hockey blog.

Nurse

Toughness In Edmonton?: The Oilers have added Milan Lucic to a team that also picked up Patrick Maroon and Zack Kassian during the season. With Darnell Nurse and Matt Hendricks also in the mix, are the Edmonton Oilers now a tough team to play against physically? Sammi Silber looks at that over at Oil on Whyte.

Better and Worse: Alan Hull has a terrific look at how the Oilers are somehow a better hockey team while getting worse this summer. Confused by what I just wrote? Check out what Hull has to say about Edmonton’s goal with their roster, how they went about doing it and where they currently stand.

Milan Lucic Ready To Lead: Milan Lucic is ready to be one of the guys who leads Edmonton out of the decade of darkness. Jason Gregor has a really nice write-up on Edmonton’s newest power forward and takes a look at what else is needed to help this hockey club win over at OilersNation.
