Oilers Release 2017-18 Regular Season Schedule

.

Yesterday, the Edmonton Oilers announced that they would be hosting the Calgary Flames on October 4th to open up their 2017-18 season. It’s the second straight year that the Battle of Alberta is the opener in Edmonton, and it should be an extremely entertaining game featuring two of the most exciting teams in the league.

Unlike last year, however, there will be no home-and-home set between the Alberta rivals. After hosting Calgary on the 4th, the Oilers will be heading to Vancouver to take on the Canucks on Saturday, October 7th, in their home opening game.

The other 80 games on Edmonton’s schedule? Well we now know them as all 31 NHL teams have released their 2017-18 regular season schedule.

The Highlights:

  • The Oilers will be involved in opening night for the second straight season when they host the Flames on October 4th.
  • The Oilers will first battle the Vegas Golden Knights on November 14th, and will visit Vegas for the first time on January 13th, 2018.
  • Auston Matthews got the better of Connor McDavid in both meetings last year but it’s revenge time for number 97. Round three will take place on November 30th in Edmonton.
  • Edmonton’s bye week this season falls in January, starting on the 14th and ending on the 20th when Edmonton takes on Vancouver at home.
  • Crosby V. McDavid round three will take place on October 24th in Pittsburgh. Both games were tremendous last season and should be must watch games for hockey fans this season.

  • On the opposite end, the club’s longest road trip will also be five games, going from November 21st through the 26th. Edmonton will have another five game road trip from January 6th-13th.
