The Oilers Rig Week in Review

Well, here we are, another week another couple of losses and a fan base that has lost patience and what seems like a management team that has no clue what is wrong. The Oilers suffered two incredibly embarrasing losses this week, one to the Toronto Maple Leafs on Tuesday and the other last night to the Detroit Red Wings.

The team appears to have given up, and if you listen the comments made by head coach Dallas Eakins he sounds defeated. What about captain Andrew Ference on HNIC After Hours, he’s clearly frustrated too. The Fans, well the fans are pissed. Social Media is in an uproar and the radio call in shows are ringing off the hook with people begging for someone to be fired or for a trade to be made. Can’t say I disagree with them, something has to happen and happen soon! This team is going nowhere fast.

So besides poor performances on the ice let’s look at what the writers here at the Oilers Rig had to say this week, there were some beauty articles thats for sure.

Richard Bachman Over Looked or Over Rated – Jeremy Thompson looks at the chances of AHL goalie Bachman being successfull in the NHL.

Oilers Epitaph – Jeremy “Borisnikov” Wright give us a gloomy look at what the season has brought so far and what is still to come. MUST READ

Hunting for Defense – Our most read story of the week, Alex addresses the various rumors circulating about the Oilers and their search for a number 1/2 defenseman.

What the Oilers SHOULD Do – I give you my opinion on what the Oilers brass needs to do to improve this team. Similar to the Chicago model.

and finally reaction to last nights game from Alex Thomas the aptly titled Embarrasing, Unacceptable, and Pathetic, no description needed.

So there was a lot to write about this week, and a lot for the fans to digest. We’ll get to talk about it more at length tomorrow during the Oilers Rig Radio Show, and I’m guessing a lot of you will want to call in and vent we’ll make time for your calls for sure!
