TSN’s Arron Ward has announced the Oilers and Scrivens have agreed to a two-year extension.
Looks like Ben Scrivens will get his shot at proving he can be a starter in the NHL. The Oilers acquired Scrivens back in January from the L.A Kings for a 2014 third round pick and now it is reported that he has signed a two-year extension worth in the ballpark of two million per season.
The 27 year old Scrivens has seen limited starts in the NHL since his debut season with the Leafs in 2011-12 even though he has had okay numbers. After starting only 58 games in the NHL between the Leafs, Kings and the Oilers Scrivens has a 21-23-0-6 record with a .921 SV% and a 2.49 GAA and put up 6 shutouts.
It is also reported by Marc Ciampa on www.edmontonoilers.com and tweeted by @EdmontonOilers that defenseman Philip Larsen on wavers as been placed on waivers.
Larsen was acquired from the Dallas Stars as part of the Shawn Horcoff trade in July of 2015.
