The Edmonton Oilers have selected defender Philip Kemp with the 208th overall pick in the NHL entry draft. Kemp played 25 games for the USNTDP of the USHL last season, registering 2-2-4 and a +7 rating. The 6’3”, right-shot defender is slated to play for Yale of the NCAA next season.
The Scouting Report:
SB Nations’ College Hockey Blog: Kemp is a pure defensive defenseman that is better when he doesn’t try to do too much. He had a really ugly game against Minnesota, but rebounded with a quiet, solid performance against UMD. He’s a potential late-round draft choice.
