Another week has come and gone in the summer of 2016. As we approach the final week of July, the month of August is now firmly in our sights, the last month without hockey for this calendar year.
While I still think we will get some news in the form of another Oilers transaction or two, this week was another slow one in terms of news for Oiler fans. So, without further ado, here are this week’s links from around the Oilers blogosphere.
Adam Larsson Against Top Dogs: How did new Oilers defender Adam Larsson do against the top opponents last season in New Jersey? It’s a question worth asking, considering many consider him a top-pairing shut-down defender. Jonathan Willis goes in-depth on this question over at OilersNation.
Rookies in the AHL: How have past rookies done in the Edmonton Oilers pipeline the last number of years? Who is a candidate to be a rookie in Bakersfield this season and what can we expect from the newest class of first year pros? Lowetide asks those questions and has the answers over on his blog.
Leon Without Taylor: Can Leon Draisaitl succeed without Taylor Hall riding shotgun with him? Last season, Draisaitl exploded onto the scene, but was aided big time by Edmonton’s dynamic left winger. With Hall now in New Jersey, there are questions about Draisaitl’s future production. Sammi Silber of Oil On Whyte believes that Leon will be just fine.
Eberle Sounds Off: Oilers forward Jordan Eberle, a long time teammate and friend of Taylor Hall, did a radio interview last week and was asked about Edmonton’s shocking trade of Hall. Eberle gives his take on the move and on where the Oilers currently stand over at NBC Sports.
McDavid Excited to Have Lucic: While I don’t usually post items from NHL.com, this is a good one that I wanted to share. Connor McDavid talks to the website about Edmonton’s off-season, and mentions how excited he is to have Lucic on board. McDavid also talks about the potential impact the power forward could have on the team.
