Well it is official. Jackie took us out to the alley and taught us a lesson. Well done Jackie!

Jackie: 6 – 2
The first round champ! She went 4-0 in the West and 2-2 in the East. Notable hits, LA in 7 and Chicago in 6. Embarrassing misses, Tampa in 6.

Shawn: 4 – 4
Shawn was one of two contestants pulling up a little lame in the ole pick ’em competition. He went 1 -3 in the West and 3-1 in the East. Notable hits, Anaheim in 6 and Boston in 5. Embarrassing misses, Colorado in 4 and San Jose in 5.

Dave: 5 – 3
Dave was looking at a perfect 8 for 8, and then Wednesday night finished with 3 losses for his picks. He went 2 – 2 in the West and 3 – 1 in the East. Notable hits, Anaheim in 6 and Boston in 5. Embarrassing misses, Colorado in 5 and Philly in 4.

Alex: 4 – 4
Alex was the other half of kind of lame in the ole pick ’em competition. He went 0 – 4 in the West and 4 – 0 in the East. Notable hits, *crickets*. Embarrassing misses, the West. Trololol

Boris: 5 – 3
Boris was boom or bust in the first round and the 3 game 7s saved his bacon. He went 3 – 1 in the West and 2 – 2 in the East. Notable hits, LA in 7 and Chicago in 6. Embarrassing misses, Tampa in 7.

Second Round Picks

The West

Chicago VS Minny

LA VS Anaheim

Jackie: Chicago in 6 – Minnesota squeaked by Colorado winning game 7 in OT. They’re hyped up and may pull off a game or two but Chicago is too good and can put up some serious offense. I expect them to win this one. Jackie: LA in 7 – Anaheim is overrated and LA just had a hard fought series with the Sharks (the best series in the playoffs thus far). I expect this to be another tough series but I don’t see Anaheim coming out of this one especially with the grit and fight the Kings have.
Also… I can’t stand Anaheim.

Shawn: Chicago In 5 (Without even trying)
– Now that the Blues are out, the Blackhawks are the class of the West. The Blackhawks are a more skilled and more disiplined in their own end, unlike the Avalanche. Minnesota is going to go Wild when Chicago pounds them.

Shawn: LA in 6
– The Ducks have had scoring from all lines all year. Guys like Cogliano and Winnik had career years that have continued in the playoffs. But the Kings will stop the overachieving Ducks. Fresh off a 0-3 comeback series win, the Kings are on a high. Just the confidence boost the Kings need to play like we all thought.

Dave: Chicago in 5
– Minny surprised a lot of people including me by getting by the Avs, but Chicago is a team that made a very good St. Louis team look mediocre.

Dave: LA in 6
– Anaheim rolled the stars in 6 but I don’t think they looked very good doing it. LA on the other hand started slow and then rode Quick’s coattails to be the 4th team in NHL history to comeback after being down 3-0 in the series. Another hard fought series for LA but they’ll come through

Alex:
Chicago in 6 – The Wild and Av’s series was fun to watch, but let’s be real here, neither team is Chicago. The Hawks demolished my cup pick in St. Louis, and found different ways to win almost every night. This team has scoring depth, great defensive play, and a goalie who is playing well right now. They could be the next dynasty.

Alex: LA
in 5 – The Kings are coming off of an historic comeback against San Jose, while their big guns are really clicking. The Ducks just don’t impress me and I don’t think they can handle a team like LA. The Kings are hot right now and they’ll make quick work of the Ducks.

Boris: Chicago in 4
– Chicago is a team of destiny. The first series should have been a sweep. Instead they do it here. Minny no winny.

Boris: LA in 6
– LA swam outside of the cage last round but managed to kick the Sharks in the eye and get away just as they came in for the kill. Ducks are far less dangerous than Sharks.

The East

Boston VS Montreal

NY Ranger VS Pittsburgh

Jackie: Boston in 6Montreal may have gotten lucky with one sweeping Tampa Bay but they haven’t played for awhile and I expect Boston to maintain the intensity and use their size to roll over the Habs. Jackie: Pittsburgh in 7 – Pittsburgh needs Fleury to continue to play well and if Lundqvist is on his game…the Pens might struggle a bit. Malkin is on fire and Crosby’s going to get moving…and they’ll pull it off.

Shawn: Iginla in 7
– Honestly, I think if there is a team can take down the big bad Bruins, it’s Montreal. They have had their number for years and Rask hasn’t won at home against them in the last 7 games. But Iginla is going to be the Next Hossa. Boston is the best team in the World right now, hijinks and shenanigans or not. Boston will be Bru-in a series win.

Shawn: Rangers in 7
– Honestly? Who cares! Whoever makes it out of the Montreal/Boston Series is going to steam roll the winner of this one. One team has strong D, the other elite offense. Neither has both. But the Rangers have a goalie, the Penguins do not. The Flower will wilt this series.

Dave: Boston in 7
– A great rivalry should make for some pretty awesome playoff hockey. Both teams have great goaltending but the Bruins win in the depth department, a fun series.

Dave: Pittsburgh in 5
– New York is in tough against the Pens. Crosby is going to get going and Malkin is going to build off his 3 goal game 6 performance, there was also a lot of criticism of MAF but he was good when he needed to be and that will continue.

Alex: Boston in 6
– The Bruins scoring depth is unreal, while Tuukka Rask has been one of the best goalies all year long. If one goalie out east can match him right now, it’s Carey Price. The Habs have Boston’s number for some reason, and Thomas Vanek is a Bruin killer. That said, the B’s defensive depth is too good, and Boston will escape this one.

Alex: New York in 6
– Everyone says the Penguins are a legit threat to win it all. I call BS on that. The Penguins simply don’t have the depth, goaltending, or defense to be a legit cup threat anymore. The Rangers on the other hand, do. They barely escaped a good Flyers team, but with great depth and six really good defenders, they are set for a deep run.

Boris: Boston in 5
– Boston makes no mistake and runs the Habs up and down the eastern seaboard. Bears are scary.

Boris: New York in 6
– As much as I like the Sid & Geno 1-2 punch, the Rangers are just too deep. They win this with New York style, become the toast of the town and King Henrick does a nude guest spot on Girls a few months from now as an excitable, bi-sexual Broadway actor who tries to have a threesome with Hannah and Adam but they reject him because he is just too beautiful.

Here are all the picks from the first round.
