Hard Work Pays off For Hrynkiw

This past weekend, UND walk-on goalie Matt Hrynkiw started his first game since April 12, 2013. For those that are wondering. Hrynkiw was a member of the Humboldt Broncos of the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League.

Hrynkiw came to UND as a depth/practice goalie to start the 2013-14 season. During this first two seasons at UND, Hrynkiw practiced but never played in a regulation game. Having watched him in practice the last few years, Hrynkiw has definitely improved  a lot.

Hrynkiw’s hard work finally that work has paid off. When UND starting goalie Cam Johnson went down with a lower-body  at the end of the second period, in last Friday’s game. Hrynkiw stopped 10-of-12 shots in relief.

Hrynkiw got the win on Saturday night stopping 17-of-19 shots. Hrynkiw finished the weekend  1-0-1, with a 1.72 GAA and a .879 Sv%.

Bulldogs dominate Gophers

Over the past two seasons, the University of Minnesota-Duluth Bulldogs have owned the University of Minnesota Gophers. The Bulldogs continued that dominance with a (3-0, 3-1) sweep of the Golden Rodents.

In their last seven games (over the past two seasons), the Bulldogs have a 6-1-0 record against the Gophers. During those seven games, the Bulldogs and have outscored them 20-8. The Bulldogs have also won six games in a row over the Gophers.

CBS Line?

On Saturday night, Brad Berry put Drake Caggiula with Brock Boeser and Nick Schmaltz. That move paid dividends. The CBS line scored (4g-5a—9tps).

NCHC Dominate Again

Last season, the NCHC was dominant in nonconference play, going (59-30-4, .656). This season, the NCHC has picked up where they left off. To date, the NCHC has a 19-7-4 record against nonconference schools.
