Welcome to episode ten of The Rig Rant.
By now, I’m sure you know that every week, we search for the best, worst and most hilarious tweets and compile them all into one amazing article for your viewing pleasure.
On Twitter, you can find us @TheRigRant. Now – you don’t have to tag us in YOUR tweets if you’re feeling all self conscious, but if you do see something that cracks you up, send it our way! Tagging us in tweets helps wrangle in the awesomeness (it’s totally a word), and we can’t be everywhere so make sure you do!!
Week ten of The Rig Rant saw the Oilers start the week at home against the insanely boring Minnesota Wild and then head out on the road to visit the Buffalo Sabres on Tuesday, the red hot Philadelphia Flyers on Thursday and finish off in Minnesota Friday to face the Wild for the second time.
This week, there were a lot of one goal games and a lot of overtime. Four out of their last five to be exact, went to overtime. The Oilers struggled yet again and missed out on much needed points by beating teams they should be beating. With the Flames, Sharks, Ducks all in the hunt for first place in the Pacific division, things were getting a bit dicey and Twitter was a miserable place to be…sometimes. Oilers fans have a hard time being consistent with their feelings…but you’ll see that as you read on.
**DISCLAIMER**
Some of these tweets contain horrible language. We can’t be held responsible if your children read this article and start swearing at your TV (and/or you).
Let’s get started…
The Oilers didn’t waste any time when they faced the Wild and former Edmonton goalie Devan Dubnyk (who is owning the league at the moment)…

This next tweet contains what turned out to be quite controversial. McDavid was removed from the ice due to concussion protocol (after his face hit the ice). Some thought it was ridiculous that he was pulled from the game for over half a period to be looked at, others thought it was better to look him over for 6 minutes instead of finding out that he needed to be out for 6 weeks or longer. Everyone has their opinion, but here’s the replay anyways…

Oilers should have thrown "Schultz" on the back of Maroon's jersey tonight. Dubnyk would likely battle PTSD any time he stood out front. -bm

With the score tied 2-2 and the Oilers getting a point and heading to yet another overtime, that last tweet pretty much sums up Talbot’s stellar play the whole game. Overtime would solve nothing, so off to the shootout we go…
https://twitter.com/ibleedoil/status/807432221644754944
In the shootout, McLellan opted with Letestu, followed by Hendricks and Draisaitl with only Drai solving Dubnyk. Then it was McDavid, Eberle and Nuge with only Ebs managing to score. It wasn’t enough and the Oil managed to lose the valuable extra point.
— Kris (@TheGuyNamedKris) December 10, 2016
Do we? I can’t decide…but one thing is for sure, this team needs to find offence from someone other than McDavid and Draisaitl. I’ll leave it at that.
Up next week…
The Oilers head home to face the Winnipeg Jets on Sunday and Columbus Blue Jackets on Tuesday. The Oilers then have a three day break before Tampa Bay heads to Rogers Place on Saturday night for Hockey Night in Canada.
So – Connor McDavid is still leading the league in points, and the Oilers are still ahead of Calgary and in a fight for first place in the Pacific Division. It was not a good week, but hopefully they can snag some points this coming week and go on a bit of a tear. It’s a necessity if they want to stay in the hunt.
Remember to tag @TheRigRant when you use (or see) memes, gifs, or just overall hilarity.
Thanks for reading!
See you next week!
