This is a little out of date, only because we already had a topic for last week’s roundtable. But it’s so fun thinking about this game that we’re going to talk about it anyway.
Friday, March 10 was maybe the best game the Oilers have played all season, and for the first time in many years, it wasn’t an example of Exciting Last Place Hockey. They were dominant from start to finish, and should have won the game except that they were playing the Pittsburgh Penguins and, well, the Pens were a force to be reckoned with.
The game was so good that I managed to stay awake for the whole thing (which, on a Friday, is a tall order), so I figured that this would be the best question to ask:
The Pens/Oilers game was arguably the best that the Oilers have played all season. Did it live up to your expectations, or were you left wanting more?

I was left wanting more from this game, mainly because the shootout felt like such a terrible way to end the best game of the NHL’s 2016-17 season. The third period and overtime of that game were, to me, the best hockey I’ve seen in years period. Not just the Oilers either, the speed and skill that was on display was simply incredible. What may have been even better was the fact that both goaltenders came to play too, which made things that much more entertaining and dramatic.
Personally, I’m left wanting more. That game was tremendous, but I feel cheated that I won’t be able to see Edmonton and Pittsburgh play again until next season……most likely

It definitely lived up to my expectations and then some. I had figured it would be a good game, but no where near as exciting as it turned out to be. It was definitrly edge of your seat material and I remain rather jealous towards everyone that got to be their live.

The Verdict
The shootout is dumb, and does a disservice to a really good game. Good thing there’s no shootouts during *whispers* playoffs.
