Shad Khan says Gus Bradley’s job is safe for now

Jacksonville Jaguars v New York Jets

It looks like Jaguars owner Shad Khan will pass on his last opportunity to fire coach Gus Bradley during the 2016 season.

According to Ryan O’Halloran of the Florida Times-Union via Pro Football Talk, Khan said he won’t make a change following Thursday night’s 36-22 loss at Tennessee.

The final score doesn’t reflect how poorly the Jaguars (2-5) played. They fell behind 27-0 at halftime and were down 36-8 before scoring two garbage-time touchdowns in the final 3:11.

Bradley is 14-41 in his four years as Jaguars coach. That’s the worst winning percentage for anyone who has coached at least 50 games since World War II, according to Deadspin.

Of course Khan can fire Bradley any time he wants. But this would be the most logical time since the Jaguars have 10 days off before they go to Kansas City in Week 9.

So Bradley still has a chance to save his job, but it’s a slim one. It would seem the Jaguars would have to at least go 5-4 in their remaining games for Bradley to remain as their coach. That would put them at 7-9, which would be their best record since they finished 8-8 in 2010.

If the Jaguars don’t have something tangible to build on for next season, then Bradley will be gone.
