Signed, Sealed, But Only Daniel Murphy Can Deliver

It looks like David Wright will be a New York Met for life, as a source said that the contract terms have been agreed to (eight years, slightly less than $140 million). So now we know that the Mets have money. We just hope that’s not all of it.

One final problem

David Wright’s new eight-year deal worth nearly $140 million will not become official until a physical. And that physical will not take place until next week, according to a source familiar with the plan. That’s because Wright and teammates are in Jacksonville, Fla., this weekend for the wedding of Daniel Murphy.

Please let the bachelor party not involve skydiving or climbing into the tiger cage at the zoo at 3AM. Or fighting with pissed off Jaguars fans at the bars. Because you know if there’s a problem and Murphy has to catch Wright on the way down from the cage or out of a plate glass window he’ll drop him.

(And if Murphy has to catch him because Wright’s chute won’t open, there’s bigger problems.)
