Textbook Embellishment by Minnesota’s Vinni Lettieri

Per SBN College Hockey: Scott Conway’s response to Vinni Lettieri scoring Minnesota’s fifth goal Friday with 2:47 remaining was one that caught everyone’s attention and left the Gopher sophomore face down on the ice.

In my opinion, this is textbook embellishment by Lettieri. First, I don’t condone the punch, it’s a bush-league move and it’s poor sportsmanship, especially after a goal.

Finally, equally bush-league is the flop/dive. That acting job is worthy of an Academy Award. If I was head coach Don Lucia, I would be ashamed that one of my players exhibited such poor sportsmanship. This kind of garbage needs to be eliminated from college hockey. Seriously, a player that is 5-10 and weighs 185 pounds shouldn’t be that easy to drop to the ice with that punch. If so, he has no business playing division I hockey.
