Three of the four semifinalists are set, as joining Oliver Perez are Tony Bernazard, who defeated Yadier Molina 47-16, and Jimmy Rollins, who chased down Guillermo Mota and beat him like Mike Piazza wished he did, 55-14. So here we go: the final quarterfinal matchup in the Hall of Hate:
(1) The Wilpons vs (9) Brett Myers
How they got here:
One candidate hates the Mets. The other is Brett Myers. (See what I did there?) Well, the Wilpons say they love the Mets, but as you know, actions speak louder than words. And the Wilpons’ actions, which include building an homage to the Dodgers while trashing members of their own team in a New Yorker article say “we hate our team”. And people say the fans are a self-loathing lot. Well, we learn from the best.
This is an interesting matchup, because with the Mets looking to re-tool (as usual), there’s a small chance that Myers could be working for the Wilpons if Sandy Alderson decides to trade for him and help the Astros rebuild with awful minor leagues (the kind they usually get from the Phillies when Ed Wade decides that now that he’s with the Astros, he’s finally going to help the Phillies … come to think of it, why isn’t Ed Wade in this competition?) So that makes this matchup somewhat retroactively delicious.

You have until 3AM Thursday to cast your vote, and then we move on to what promises to be a very interesting semi-final round. Myers is the VCU of the tournament. Does his magical ride (of one win over Snoop Manuel) continue? The power is in your computer.
