The University of North Dakota season has come to an abrupt end. Hey, this one stings a bit. Especially, for this team that came into the season with such high expectations. Loss aside, this team worked very hard this season and was a lot of fun to watch.
Not one person that I know likes losing. So, feel free to vent. I would be glad to read your thoughtful comments.
Here are some facts: UND finished the season at 29-10-3 and was the number ranked team in the nation for something like nine weeks. They won two trophies (regular season and a regional championship) and had what I would classify as a successful season.
In his 11 season at UND, Coach Hakstol has a 289-143-43 (.653) record. Hakstol’s teams have made the Conference and the NCAA tourney in all 11 years. Moreover, his teams have made the NCAA Frozen Four 7-of-11 seasons.
I also think that Hakstol has improved a lot as a coach over the last four season.
So, for the fans that want coach Hakstol fired. It’s not going to happen. The University will not fire a coach for failing to win a Frozen Four.
