There was something very interesting and eerie regarding the plea deal made by former Mets clubhouse manager, and everybody’s favorite Chris Carlin lookalike, Charlie Samuels on Tuesday. Check out the quote by Queens D.A. Richard A. Brown:
“The defendant was a once trusted employee of the New York Mets who, by his guilty plea, admits that he took advantage of his position and employers to amass a sports memorabilia collection worth millions of dollars. On top of that he failed to pay City and State taxes on tens of thousands of dollars that he had received while employed by the New York Mets. In sum, the defendant had a dream job that any Mets fan would die for – and he blew it. He allowed his greed to get the better of him.”
Let’s repeat the eerie part and put it in special font thingy:
” … the defendant had a dream job that any Mets fan would die for – and he blew it. He allowed his greed to get the better of him.”
It’s eerie because after a certain owner and his certain son and a certain relative of theirs named Saul show up in court next month to face Irving Picard, I have a feeling we’ll be hearing those same words, only their refer to them and not the guy who stole enough memorabilia whose value could bring back a fifth starter.
