“I’m looking forward to getting out there, and one, playing defense, two, hitting the baseball, seeing where it’s going to bounce around, getting a chance to run and seeing some great fans come out there. A lot of the people I’ve met in New York have always said true New Yorkers are Mets fans. So I’m excited to get a chance to see them all out there.” –Curtis Granderson
Boy does this quote have a chance to blow up in our faces when it’s August and the paid attendance is 4.
But hey, if New Yorkers say it, it must be true, right? There are very few “True Yankees”, but lots and lots of True New Yorkers. And they can’t all be wrong. They might not all come out to the ballpark, but hey … that’s semantics. Where there’s smoke there’s fire.
Or maybe Curtis is better at marketing than we all thought. Perhaps he can take over for Jeff Wilpon at whatever he does when Curtis’ career is over.
Now, would you like to laugh?
Michael Kay apparently said on his @ESPNNY98_7FM radio show that he’s “very offended” by Granderson’s NY fan comment. #Mets

Maybe I was wrong. Maybe that’s why everyone hates the Yankees.
