The NCHC Meat Grinder After 3 Seasons

tbl

While it sounds cliché, the National Collegiate Hockey Conference has been a meat grinder. A couple of weeks ago, a few of us on Twitter joked about changing the conference trophy to a meat grinder.

All humor aside, It’s very hard to win games in the NCHC. All you have to do is look at the statistics.

Over the past three seasons, series sweeps are hard to come by. Included in the parentheses is the number of conference sweeps this season.

The second parentheses are the number of times each team has been swept in conference play this season. Even the bottom two teams in the league this season had, at least, one series sweep.

I was interested in looking at the eight teams’ cumulative all-time conference record through 72 games. UND has two NCHC regular season titles. SCSU has one NCHC regular season titles. Miami  and Denver have a playoff title each.

North Dakota (8) (1) 50-19-3 (.715)
St. Cloud State (6) (1) 43-24-5 (.631)
Denver (7) (2) 40-26-6 (.597)
Minnesota-Duluth (5) (4) 34-30-8 (.527)
Nebraska-Omaha (3) (6) 33-32-7 (.500)
Miami (3) (4) 29-39-4 (.430)
Western Michigan (2) (8) 22-42-8 (.361)
Colorado College (1) (8) 12-51-9 (.229)
