10 – Oilers trade Dubnyk to Predators
This deal is only on here because of what Devan Dubnyk became. At the time of the trade, Dubnyk was playing the worst stretch of hockey in his career. His underwhelming performance may be a testament to GM Craig MacTavish’s “if you have to ask the question” comment. Anyways, MacTavish figured Dubnyk was damaged goods and instead make a deal for Ben Scrivens to save the Oilers season. In return MacTavish brought a hard-working good solider with a bad contract in Matt Hendricks. Hendricks has been a good soldier for the team, but Dubnyk became a Vezina trophy contending goaltender.
