9 – Oilers deal Brodziak for picks

It was Steve Tambellini’s first draft as the GM in 2009, and with Magnus Paajarvi and Anton Lander being his first selections, GM Steve Tambellini found it necessary to add additional draft picks by sending away Kyle Brodziak. Brodziak was a strong face-off man and penalty killer who added 10-15 goals on offence, but apparently the GM felt they could cover his loss with Sam Gagner, Shawn Horcoff, Andrew Cogliano and Marc Pouliot. The Oilers missed Brodziak’s presence and Brodziak is still a capable bottom six forward currently plying his trade with the St.Louis Blues.
