Much like the previous trade, the Oilers dealt a quality NHL defenseman for a bag of magic beans. Jeff Petry was arguably the Oilers best defenseman at the time when he was traded to the Canadiens. The Oilers instead believed Justin Schultz to be the main man, and Petry was send packing. Montreal loved what they saw from the player that they signed him to the exact same term and money the Oilers had to give Andrej Sekera on free agency once Chiarelli took over. Chalk one up for MacT.
