The Oilers Rig Week in Review and a look ahead

hendo031313

Yesterday Alex let you know just who exactly draft pick Greg Chase. If you read that article you’d know he was the Oilers final selection of the 2013 draft and the final edition of the 2013 Oilers Rig “Just Who Is” rookie series.

It’s no coincidence that the final article in the rookie series coincides with the Start of the Penticton Young Stars tournament this coming Thursday. The annual (sort of – obviously nothing last year) tournament features the young Oilers up against the best rookies from the Calgary Flames (hehehe), the San Jose Sharks and last but not least the Vancouver Canucks.

This is exciting news folks. Puck drop at the Young Stars tourney signals the end of the offseason, the games last time around were streamed live on the internet for all to enjoy last time, and I hope it’s the same this time. We will have a more in depth article later this week but so you know Edmonton’s first game is Thursday at 5:00 MST against the Flames (hehehe), I guess that will be Oiler fans first look at Calgary pick Sean Monahan.

Back to the Oilers though, by now you’ve probably read all the Just Who Is articles and have a favorite, if not here they are again for your reading pleasure;

Just Who Is Darnell Nurse?

Just Who Is Marco Roy?

Just Who Is Bogdan Yakimov?

Just Who Is Anton Slepyshev?

Just Who Is Jackson Houck?

Just Who Is Kyle Platzer?

Just Who Is Aidan Muir?

Just Who Is Evan Campbell?

Just Who Is Ben Betker?

Just Who Is Greg Chase?

Alright, now that you’ve gone through and re-read them all, you will know that my favorite prospect picked in this year’s draft is Jackson Houck, besides Darnell Nurse of course. Let me know who your favorite is, you can vote below.

So now that the rookie articles are done we are going to move on and look at Just Who are the NHL additions to the roster this year. MacT had a busy off season so we will have daily articles to bring you up to speed on that starting this week as well. And of course possibly the biggest and most exciting news of the week is coming up Tuesday is the debut of Oilers Rig Radio, Pat McLean from blackdoghatesskunks.com and Josh Rimer from nextsportsstar.com will join us, we will take your calls and preview this weeks Penticton Young Stars tournament.
