Now, for all you newbies out there, it does make life a lot easier if you tag us in your Oilers venting tweets for a shot at being featured in the article. The search for great material is exhausting! So help us out would ya?

On Twitter, you can find us @TheRigRant or you can tweet @JackieDee16 and she’ll make the magic happen.

Week five of The Rig Rant includes reaction to the Oilers winning streak coming to an end with losses against Ottawa, Toronto and the New York Rangers. There was some very questionable reffing and it was a tough week for Captain Connor as he was mauled on several occasions. Things were not going well for our Oilers. What would happen when they closed out the week against the Islanders? Would the Oilers continue their losing streak with a fourth or could they snap out of it? Let’s see what fans had to say about it.

**DISCLAIMER**

Many of these tweets contain horrible language. We can’t be held responsible if your children read this article and start swearing at your TV (or you).

Let’s get started…

It’s clear that regardless of what happens in the win column – fans are still in love with the McMagic that is Connor McDavid.

Ahhh Connor – you make all of our dark days so much brighter.

Now let’s move on to the Ottawa game. The Oilers had several chances on the power play but it was bad. Really bad.

Now let’s dig a little deeper into the reffing situation.

Nahhhhh – that wasn’t a penalty. *Insert eternal eye roll here

Ok, let’s see what fans thought of the game so far…

So true Megan, so true. Unfortunately, the Oilers weren’t able to pull out a win or even get a goal. The feel good moment came when the Senators goalie, Craig Anderson got the shut out. After taking some time off to be with his wife who was recently diagnosed with cancer, he returned to face the Oilers and played lights out earning himself a shutout. If you’re going to lose, that moment kind of takes the sting out of it.

So that wrapped up the game and the month of October. How did fans feel with where the Oilers sat so far?

Well this was really no surprise…just give him all the trophies and call it a season.

Now the Oilers moved on to the centre of the sports universe (if you live in Toronto) to face the Leafs. A game that they should definitely win. The media was hyping up the McDavid/Matthews face off but really, nobody seemed to care. Let’s be honest though… McDavid >>> Matthews.

Expectations were high…

Unfortunately, watching this game was a no go for Jackie Dee, but she managed to get some highlights. We’ll just let the tweets speak for themselves.

Well, despite all the excitement, the Oilers wound up heading to overtime. Kadri owned the Oilers all night and put the final nail in the coffin early into OT (like 12 seconds in or something ridiculous like that).

SO – we’re midway through the week and the Oilers have managed to start a new streak, one of the losing variety. Now they head to The Big Apple to face the Rangers, a team that is looking very good right now. Not an easy task for the Oil.

Things were looking up though! The Oilers started strong and Nuge managed to FINALLY get himself a goal – thanks to the amazing soccer skills of none other than Connor McDavid…

Check out the link below to see it in all of it’s glory.

McDavid’s soccer skills

It seemed no matter what the Oilers did, the Rangers were matching it (aside from the soccer style plays)

Captain Connor managed to score a beauty of a goal but it looked like Eberle was in the crease…

https://twitter.com/NewWaveOil/status/794332356253466624

It turned out that the call on the ice would stand and it would be waved off due to goaltender interference. Many people jumped aboard the “Eberle is the new whipping boy” train, which continued through the night but more importantly…

This happened..

AND THEN THIS HAPPENED!!

Tal-Bot 3000 made some amazing saves to hold the Oilers lead.

Unfortunately, Talbot’s team didn’t help him out too much and the Rangers tied it up shortly after and managed to pop another one in with a few minutes left in the third to take the lead. The Oilers pulled Talbot to try and even the score, but THOSE DAMN RANGERS found the empty net.

Some words of encouragement for Oilers fans as they cap off a three game losing streak and head off to wind up their road trip against the Islanders.

https://twitter.com/KjellIverson/status/794355648053944320

It’s a brand new day! With…brand new lines?

Perhaps this was the shake up the Oilers needed to get the offence firing. Unfortunately – this also happened…

Fans had high hopes for the Oilers on Saturday night and Twitter was fired up for a win…but the Oilers…well they started off a little slow…

https://twitter.com/blakemitch/status/795042148974350336

https://twitter.com/Sun_Tychkowski/status/795042562042134529

At this point, the Oilers were down 2-0 and fans knew that if the Isles scored again, it could be game over.

https://twitter.com/Shanalee1982/status/795046754509058052

There you have it. Just like that – the Oilers had tied it up at two. Fans were on the ledge, but we had a little something to say to the negative nellies…hehehe

Unfortunately, just when you thought all was right in the world again…

This game had moments of pure boredom, pure excitement and pure crap (to be perfectly blunt). We’re about to pepper you with tweets. It’s the social media version of Cam Talbot’s game nights! Let’s GO!!

https://twitter.com/IMShaneJones/status/795063095039246336

So the Oilers managed to climb their way to a 3-3 tie to finish the third period and fans were oddly happy to have the one point…but now it was time for OT!

https://twitter.com/srheth/status/795079375901388801

In overtime, Eberle and McDavid were bitten by more snakes than Medusa has on her head – and could not put the puck in the net despite a plethora of chances.

So it was off to the shootout.

The Oilers opted with Eberle and RNH as the first two shooters – but neither of them could put the puck past Halak. Luckily Talbot was as solid as could be and had stopped all three shots that came his way.

So next up to shoot for the Oilers… *Insert drumroll here*….

CONN….Letestu?

We couldn’t have said it better Avry! YES!! The Oilers had indeed broken the losing streak and to cap off the week, they sit at 8-3-1 and lead the Pacific Division. Not bad Oilers. Not bad.

What do we have in store for you next week? The Oilers take their road trip to Detroit tonight and finish it off on Tuesday night in Pittsburgh. Then the Oilers are back at home on Friday to face the Dallas Stars (wear your poppies – its Remembrance Day).

Last week we were hoping to hit double digits in the win column – so let’s extend that goal and see if we’re there when we meet next week.
