University of North Dakota All-American forward Brock Boeser has missed the last five games due to an injury. Today, we found that he will miss a few more games. Boeser suffered a wrist injury during the offseason and now will have minor surgery to repair his injured wrist. During the 2015-16 season, Boeser lead the Fighting Hawks in points with 27 goals and 60 points. Last season, Boeser was also third in the nation in points.
University of North Dakota sophomore forward Brock Boeser will undergo minor surgery on his right wrist today in Minneapolis and is expected to return to the North Dakota lineup in January.
Boeser attempted to play through the injury for UND’s first 13 games before sitting out the past five games in an effort to fully heal the injury. Today’s surgery will prevent Boeser from competing in the upcoming IIHF World Junior Championship in Montreal and Toronto. Boeser, who won a bronze medal at last year’s tournament, was one of 27 players named to the preliminary roster for the United States National Junior Team earlier this month.
At the Wednesday hockey press conference, UND fans also received some really, good news. Head coach Brad Berry confirmed that when the World Junior Championship is over Tyson Jost will join his Fighting Hawks teammates in Omaha, Nebraska. For those that are asking, the bronze medal and gold medal games are on January 5, 2017.
Apparently, the coach and the player talked about this before he left for the WJC.
This means that Jost will only miss UND’s non-conference matchup against the Union Dutchmen. Boeser is slated to return to the lineup sometime in January. As we receive updates, I post them.
