UPDATE – UND Hockey: Gage Ausmus Named Captain

Raven

The University of North Dakota Hockey team is going to have six players wearing letters this season.

Per UND news release:

UND head coach Brad Berry announced that five players were elected assistant captains, the most in UND men’s hockey history: senior forwards Drake Caggiula, Bryn Chyzyk and Colten St. Clair, as well as junior defensemen Paul LaDue and Troy Stecher.

“We are very fortunate to have a group of experienced veterans among our assistant captains and each one deserves to wear a letter for his program,” added Berry. “The group of five assistant captains represents a cross-section of our senior and junior classes. Each individual brings something different to the table, but all five have the same mentality and focus and will continue to lead and develop our younger group of student-athletes.”

Here’s a few notes of interest. I attended the press conference today and a few other news items came out.

UND will announce the hiring of an assistant coach as soon  as tomorrow. According to Brad Schlossman, it could be Matt Shaw.  We will soon find out.

Also, UND will announce their Freshman class the first half of July. The Roster will come out shortly after in July or early August.
