Someone posted this article on Sioux Sports. I am not familiar with this Chicago Blackhawks Blog. Honestly, it’s the first time that I’ve ever read it. I don’t know how dialed in he is to the Blackhawks organization.
That being said, “if” Schmaltz is set to return, that would be a huge turn of events. Imagine Schmaltz, Tyson Jost and Brock Boeser on the same line. That would probably go down in history as one of the more prolific lines in college hockey. Maybe I am getting head of my self.
While the Blackhawks have not had very many high draft picks in the last few years, Stan Bowman has tried to keep the pipeline stocked with young prospects to add to the NHL roster. While some youngsters have been sacrificed to add veterans for Stanley Cup runs, the Hawks still have a talented prospect pool.
Kennedy feels that 2014 first-round draft pick Nick Schmaltz had the best season among the Blackhawks prospects in the AHL, CHL, NCAA and Europe. Schmaltz had a fantastic sophomore season at the University of North Dakota anchoring one of the nation’s top lines. He had 11 goals and 46 points in 37 games during North Dakota’s championship season. He also had two goals and eight points for Team USA at the World Junior Championship.
Bowman wants to get Schmaltz into the organization as soon as possible. There is still a chance he signs with the Blackhawks this summer, but word out of Grand Forks is that he is going to return for his junior season. (Greg Boyson, Letsgohawks.net)
As soon as something is released, I will post it. Until then, I am dreaming of the JBS line lighting up college hockey.
