So far this season, the Injury Ninja has had a field day. However, his stay in Minnesota might not be that long. This morning, the Minnesota Wild received some very good news when they learned that All-Star forward Zach Parise won’t be missing as much time as originally thought. Wild fans were probably expecting the worst.

Today, it was revealed that Parise is listed as week-to-week after being diagnosed with a sprained MCL. Whew, that could have been worse.

“I think it’s great news,” General Manager Chuck Fletcher told Michael Russo of the StarTribune. “He’ll be out for a few weeks. Hopefully he’ll be back as soon as possible, but all things considered in terms of knee injuries, it was the best-case scenario.”

For those that didn’t see the hit in question. At the 1:15 mark of the first period, Parise was on the receiving end of a questionable hit from behind by the Predators forward James Neal. Initially, Wild fans were expecting the worst and held their collective breath after watching their star forward being helped off of the ice.

Minnesota Wild forward Zach Parise has a sprained MCL in his right knee and his return will be evaluated on a week-to-week basis, the Wild announced Saturday.

“I think it’s great news. He’ll be out a few weeks but all things considered, in terms of knee injuries, it’s best-case scenario,” Wild general manager Chuck Fletcher said. “It’s certainly not months but it’s not days. He’ll be out this week but next week we’ll have a better feel for how the recovery is going.” (Minnesota Wild)

Again, this is very good news for the Minnesota Wild.
