Minnesota Wild Tickets up 75% from last season on secondary market

Last season, the Minnesota Wild clinched a spot in the playoffs on Game 80 of their schedule after a season-long fight in the very competitive Central Division. They went on to beat the Division Champion Avalanche in a seven game first round series before losing to the Blackhawks in six games in the following round. For the Wild, it was the second playoff loss to the division-rival Blackhawks in as many years. While being among the final eight teams fighting for the Stanley Cup is an impressive feat, one playoff series win in two seasons after signing Zach Parise and Ryan Suter to matching $98 million commitments stings some in the Wild front office. But the Wild are building towards something. After adding University of Minnesota alum Thomas Vanek to their existing core of Parise, Suter, Mikko Koivu and Jason Pominville, and with the expected progression of their young core in Jonas Brodin, Charlie Coyle, Mikael Granlund, Matt Dumba and Erik Haula, the Wild appear to be constructing something lasting.

According to TiqIQ, the average price for Minnesota Wild tickets during the 2014-15 season is $178.71 on the secondary market. That’s a 75% increase from the season average last season on the secondary market.

To the surprise of no one, the most popular game according to ticket prices is against the team that has knocked them out of the playoffs in both of the past two seasons: the Chicago Blackhawks. The January 8th opportunity for revenge is listed at an average price of $247.14 with $68 getting you in the door. Another popular game is the April 4th matchup against former the former divisional rival Red Wings on Game 78 of the season. Last season at that time, both the Wild and the Red Wings were fighting for their playoff lives, so the game has the makings of a high-leverage late-season battle. Wild vs Red Wings tickets average $236.44 for the April match with a get-in price of $68.

The Wild are hoping that head coach Mike Yeo can lead them back to the playoffs for the third straight season. As coaches often say, any team that makes the playoffs has a chance to win it all. The Wild are looking to make that a reality.
