DOLPHINS VS. RAVENSSunday, December 4 | 1:00 pm EST |
Dolphins are 7-4 and have won six games in a row…..Ravens are 6-5 and still trying to find a consistent impact on offense….it’s a crossroads game for both teams.
Miami’s winning streak has been fueled by running back Jay Ajayi, who leads the league with 730 rushing yards over the last six weeks. Baltimore’s strength is to stop the run. Hmmm…it’s your call on this one!
Ajayi is averaging 5.2 yards per carry this season – the third-best mark among all NFL running backs – but 3.4 of those yards are coming after contact, per PFF. He is averaging the most yards per carry after contact, even more than Dallas’ Ezekiel Elliott.
“Every member of the Ravens defensive line has earned a better-than-average grade against the run this season, and LB C.J. Mosley has been a force in that area, as well,” wrote PFF’s Sam Monson. “The Ravens have missed just 57 tackles this season, the fewest in the league.
“This is a case of strength meeting strength, but the strength of Baltimore is team-wide, while that of Miami rests on the shoulders of one player.”
Of course the actual game results will probably hinge on some unexpected burst of influence from other phases like quarterback play, special teams, defensive coverage plays, etc. But this show is being billed as Miami’s Ajayi vs. Baltimore’s Front Seven.
Of 53 NFL analysts surveyed by the Ravens’ team reporter Sarah Ellison, 39 (75 percent) say Miami’s winning streak will be halted in Baltimore. “The Dolphins can’t keep winning forever, can they?” asked The Sun Sentinel’s David Selig (a former Baltimore Sun editor).
