The Minnesota Wild and the Colorado Avalanche are in the bottom three of the Western Conference Central standings, but both teams have put together small win streaks this past week.

The Minnesota Wild (24-20-6) is in the midst of a four-game win streak, most recently shutting out the playoff-bound Chicago Blackhawks 3-0 on Tuesday. The Wild is 6-3-1 in their last 10 games and set a franchise record in the second period, getting off 24 shots towards Blackhawks goalie Corey Crawford. The performance was a small dose of revenge for the Wild, as the Blackhawks have eliminated them from the past two postseasons.

The Avalanche sits one point above the Wild in the standings and is looking to build off their positive January. The Avalanche went 7-3-3 during the first month of the new calendar year and is currently riding a two-game win streak. Looking to sneak into a possible playoff spot, Colorado is matching up against Western Conference teams in 10 of their next 13 games.

There’s still hockey to be played, but the games left on the schedule are shrinking for both of these teams. If either are looking to sneak their way into a Wildcard spot, now is the time to put win streaks together.

There are still over 500 tickets available for Wild fans to help secure these home victories for their playoff push. According to TiqIQ.com, the average ticket price for tickets to the Colorado Avalanche vs. the Minnesota Wild on Saturday, February 7th at the Xcel Energy Center in St. Paul, Minnesota is $200.37 with a walk-in price of $102.

If you’re looking to stay after the game and enjoy more of downtown St. Paul, hotels near Xcel Energy Center from $89 can be found at Hipmunk.com, which also includes convenient transportation to and from the event. There are also ample hotels in Minneapolis for fans that prefer the other of the twin cities.

The Minnesota Wild have a chance to create a higher level of excitement if they beat the Avalanche on Saturday night, with the Wild’s surge towards the playoffs coming at the expense of their division rival.
