REPORT: ANTHONY DAVIS SAYS HE’S PLAYED WITH A TORN LABRUM FOR 3 YEARS

Anthony Davis, who was shut down for the season Sunday with knee and shoulder injuries, told reporters on Monday that he’s played through a torn labrum for three years and that he won’t play in the 2016 Olympics, ESPN’s Justin Verrier reports.

That Davis played through a torn labrum for three years means he’s played through it his entire NBA career. New Orleans drafted Davis first overall in 2012, and he’s made the All-Star team every year since he came into the league.

How the Pelicans let Davis play through a torn labrum for so long is shocking. He’s the franchise player and one of the best big men in the NBA. Surely they must have told him to get it corrected before now, right? Still, that he played at such a high level is a credit to him.

The good news is Anthony will be able to focus on recovery. He is expected to be out of action for four to five months after undergoing surgeries on his torn left shoulder and on his knee.

Experts say proper nutrition will help speed up the recovery process by increasing the muscle tissue surrounding the injuries and supplementing with a high protein powder sourced from whey.
