And there it is.
The Buffalo Bills announced on Friday that wide receiver Sammy Watkins has been placed on the reserve/injured list. He will be out at least the next eight weeks.
The third-year pro has been battling a foot injury all season, and Bills coach Rex Ryan told reporters there is “major concern” regarding Watkins’ availability moving forward this season.
Watkins made six catches for 63 yards in the first two games before missing last week’s game against the Arizona Cardinals after his foot was stepped on in practice. A first-round pick in 2014, Watkins had a breakout season in 2015, catching 60 passes for 1,047 yards and nine touchdowns.
With Watkins set to miss significant time, the Bills claimed 25-year-old Justin Hunter, who caught 68 passes for 1,116 yards and eight touchdowns in three seasons with the Tennessee Titans.
