Roger Federer rarely loses U.S. Open matches played at night, but Juan Martin del Potro shocked the world and defeated him quite easily on Wednesday night.
Federer was previously 34-1 in U.S. Open night matches heading into the affair, with his only loss coming against Tomas Berdych in 2012.
But he didn’t have his best stuff on Wednesday, and the usually-consistent Federer missed some ridiculously easy shots that he rarely blows. And del Potro capitalized big-time. He used his wicked forehand to have Federer running all night, and emerged victorious 7-5, 3-6, 7-6, 6-4.
ESPN captured a great moment after the match, while del Potro was celebrating in front of the many fans that came out to support him. Check it out.
