Florida State vs. Miami impacted by Hurricane Matthew

The days leading up to an encounter between the No. 23 Florida State Seminoles and No. 10 Miami Hurricanes aren’t unfolding as planned thanks to Hurricane Matthew.

Expected to touch down on the East coast Thursday, the Seminoles have axed travel plans that day.

Normally the Seminoles like to arrive Thursday ahead of a Saturday game, according to Wayne E. McGahee III of the Tallahassee Democrat:

Florida State head coach Jimbo Fisher says the Seminoles will likely not travel to Miami on Thursday night as is the norm for Saturday road games. Hurricane Matthew’s track has shifted westward once again, and now is projected to make landfall on the Florida coast on Thursday night.

Florida State-Miami isn’t the only game facing difficulties thanks to the impending storm. The SEC also has to worry about LSU-Florida and Georgia-South Carolina and released a statement:

As a matter of practice, the SEC communicates regularly with schools on significant weather issues and will remain in contact with the schools involved in both football games that have potential to be impacted by Hurricane Matthew this weekend.

The ACC also has to deal with the issue, with Virginia Tech providing an image and hoping for the best:

For now, no games have had schedules altered. Stay tuned for updates.
