The Los Angeles Rams have lost three games in a row after a shocking 3-1 start. Head coach Jeff Fisher now sounds like a man on a short leash.
Fisher, Mr. “I’m not going 7-9” has started the struggling Case Keenum under center and dropped winnable games three weeks and counting to sit at 3-4. If he isn’t careful, 7-9 rests right around the corner.
Should he make it that far. According to Fred Roggin, via Jason Stewart, Fisher might not have an entire season to prove he’s worth keeping around:
"From what I am hearing, Jeff Fisher's fate will be sealed after the next four games." – @FredNBCLA on The @EricDickerson show just now
— Jason Stewart (@JasonStewart) October 24, 2016
Rams fans just groaned. How many times has this happened now? How many times has Fisher flirted with termination only for his teams to gasp for life just long enough to keep his job?
Many, and this year might be more of the same. The next four games feature the struggling Carolina Panthers, two iffy AFC East opponents in the New York Jets and Miami Dolphins and an unpredictable New Orleans Saints team.
Leave it to Fisher to win two or three of those and save himself.
At the least, what would have been a rather boring stretch of games for Rams fans just got a whole lot more interesting, with the franchise’s future direction possibly swinging back and forth on a thin line.
