Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo participated in his first practice in over two months on Thursday, which was a big step toward getting him back to being game-ready.
Romo suffered a broken bone in his back after taking a brutal hit from Cliff Avril during the team’s third preseason game, which moved rookie Dak Prescott into the starting role. It’s safe to say he’s thrived in it.
The Cowboys veteran signal-caller got his work in on Thursday, but is still unlikely to play on Sunday night, which is when he was originally slated to return.

Veteran tight end Jason Witten knows Romo as well as anyone, and he shared some thoughts about how “Young 9” looked.

There’s no reason to rush Romo back from injury anymore, so the team will happily stick with the hot hand in Prescott.
