The NFL’s trading deadline passed without a late move, but the New Orleans Saints and Cleveland Browns were reportedly talking about a deal involving cornerback Joe Haden.
According to Ed Werder of ESPN, the Saints attempted to complete a trade for Haden, but eventually decided the “price was too high” for the veteran cornerback.

Haden, 27, had been the subject of trade rumors for the better part of the last week. A first round of the Browns in 2010, Haden will be staying in Cleveland through 2016.
The Saints could use the help at cornerback, where Delvin Breaux (broken leg) and Sterling Moore (abdomen) are still recovering from injuries. B.W. Webb and Ken Crawley started for New Orleans against the Seattle Seahawks in Week 8.
In the end, the Saints were unwilling to give up significant assets to make the trade happen.
The Browns gave Haden a six-year deal in 2014. He has two interceptions and seven passes defended in 2016, despite missing three games to injury.
