Tom Brady has been the NFL’s best quarterback on third down in 2016, and the statistics suggest it isn’t even close.
Just check out his otherworldly numbers on the pivotal down, provided by Brian McCarthy of NFL Public Relations:

Brady has completed over 77 percent of his third down passes. He’s averaging 14 yards per attempt, with seven touchdowns, zero interceptions and a near perfect passer rating of 158.2.
McCarthy’s tweet doesn’t show it, but Brady has also rushed for six first downs on third down this season.
Not surprisingly, the Patriots are second in the NFL in third down conversion percentage at 48.5 percent.
Brady has been pretty good on first and second down, too. Overall, the Patriots quarterback is first in the NFL in passer rating (123.2) and second in completion percentage (70.4). Of his six starts in 2016, four have ended with Brady throwing at least three touchdowns and zero interceptions.
There have been no signs of slowing down from the future Hall of Famer. Brady has mastered just about everything about playing the quarterback position, including third down.
