San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick didn’t stand much of a chance in the snow against the Chicago Bears in Week 13, eventually getting benched in favor of backup Blaine Gabbert.
Down 24-6 and sporting a 1-of-5 line with four yards and five sacks, Kaepernick found himself back on the bench. Funnily enough, Gabbert came in and completed his first attempt.
It was a historic performance:
Colin Kaepernick's day ends with 4 pass yards and 5 sacks. First QB in NFL history with 5 sacks and fewer than 5 yards in a game.

To be fair, Kaepernick wasn’t the only one struggling in the elements:
49ers and Bears combined for 0 completed passes in the 1st quarter.

The difference? Matt Barkley turned it around, completing north of 10 passes with about 200 yards while getting the Bears into scoring range before running back Jordan Howard put up three scores.
This miserable performance came hours after a report revealed Kaepernick will back out of his contract this offseason. The 49ers, seeing this performance, probably can’t complain too much.
Expect to see Kaepernick and Gabbert both in the coming weeks. With both headed to free agency, the 49ers have some decisions to make about the future.
