It seems every Giants receiver had a juicy nugget for reporters after Sunday’s 24-14 loss in Pittsburgh.
For the first time this season, Victor Cruz was not targeted. He wasn’t thrilled about it.
“I’m going to talk to somebody. Somebody’s got to give me an answer as to why,” Cruz told the New York Daily News.
Cruz, who has 27 receptions this season, cooled off overnight and spoke on the NFL Network Monday morning.
“I’m not a disgruntled employee,” he said.
Cruz said he still plans to talk to Giants coach Ben McAdoo Tuesday about his lack of targets.
Considering his improbable comeback from knee and calf injuries that kept him out of football for a year and a half, Cruz has earned some latitude that should allow him to vent a little bit without being lumped into the vast pool of “diva” wide receivers. One of the receivers in that pool is teammate Odell Beckham Jr., who doesn’t want Sunday’s officiating crew to work any more Giants games.
Cruz already seems to be putting his frustration behind him. That’s a good thing, because he and the Giants (8-4) saw their six-game winning streak come to an end and have to focus all their energy on the Cowboys (11-1), who they host Sunday night.
