Green Bay Packers linebacker Nick Perry needed surgery to repair what head coach Mike McCarthy is calling a “significant” hand injury.
According to ESPN’s Rob Demovsky, McCarthy has already ruled Perry out for Green Bay’s pivotal matchup with the Seattle Seahawks on Sunday. But the team isn’t ready to say he’s done for the season.
“I don’t know the specifics of how long they think it’s going to be, but I know talking with Nick, he wants to go,” McCarthy said. “So that’s why we’re going to look at it Monday, and see where he is.”
Perry suffered the injury during the Packers’ 21-13 win over the Houston Texans last Sunday. He eventually returned the game with a large cast on his hand, but he only played a few snaps in the second half.
NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reported that Perry had surgery to fix “several broken fingers.”

Perry leads the Packers with 8.0 sacks in 2016. He is also a pivotal part of Green Bay’s run defense, which currently ranks ninth in the NFL in yards allowed per game.
A first-round pick of the Packers back in 2012, Perry signed a one-year, $5 million deal to return to Green Bay this past offseason.
